Hints for HW 12
General Advice:
The mathematical skills you need for this problem set include algebra,
derivatives, continuity of functions, trigonometry, graphical solution
of transcendental equations,
and integration.
Hints on specific problems:
- Problem 5-38 and 5-39: Think of boundary conditions, draw pictures, remember
what the wavelength of the wavefunction means.
- Problem 5-40: Get boundary conditions right!
- Problem 5-41 Draw an accurate picture to get the approximate
answer then use a calculator to pin down the solution.
- Problem 5-78 Integrate.
- Problem 5-79 Think carefully and draw a figure.
- Problem 5-80 An appropriate derivative is your friend.
- Problem 5-81--86 Integrate and evaluate.
- Problem 5-87 Use the Schroedinger equation.
- Problem 5-88 Draw a picture. Integrate. Evaluate.
